Assignment 52: Week 23, Summer
"The summer morn is bright and fresh, the birds are darting by As if they loved to breast the breeze that sweeps the cool clear sky."
-- William C. Bryant
Assignment 52 instantly pulled me back in again this week, with the new prompt of Summer.
Despite my absolute disdain for humidity and high heat... there is just something oh-so-intoxicating about the sun beating down on your back, the poetically blue skies, longer days, cool breezes, and the breathtaking views found in this glorious season. It calls to me and I find myself taking longer, slower walks to breathe it all in.
I discovered this book today: A Year by the Sea: Thoughts of an Unfinished Woman and it should be arriving any day now. I instantly knew it was destined to whisper to me, funny how that works isn't it? I have been rediscovering myself, the woman within me... my capabilities and also my strengths this year. It is a process that is as hopeful as it is difficult, as rewarding as it scary... but most of all I am just happy to be on a journey that shows me just how brave I really am.
You are too, in case you didn't know it.
"In summer, the song sings itself." -- William Carlos Williams
As I have spoken of oh-so-many times, it is the simple pleasures that ring truest to me. Case in point, the shot below:
"To see the Summer Sky
Is Poetry, though never in a Book it lie--
True Poems flee --"
-- Emily Dickinson
I'm not sure many people know just yet that I have moved my blog here, I won't formally announce it until the site is complete. I hope that those of you who have discovered it will let me know what is on your summer reading list and perhaps even what brave journeys you are embarking on as well.
Warmly,
Chrysti
