“Let your thoughts meander towards a sea of ideas.”
Leo D. Minnigh
Don't you just love Susan's shot? Her daughter has the perfect mix of determination and spring in her step; and Susan captured it perfectly. I love all the imagery my mind conjures up with the word meander. Long winding streams and paths, slow strolls through the woods, a lazy day browsing flea markets..... it's just the perfect summer sentiment.
I chose to use shots from my latest toy: Holga 120N Medium Format Fixed Focus Camera with Lens. (bought the film locally but you can get it online too.)Why oh why did I wait so long to get one? I am totally loving it. I did the developing via mail order with Dwayne's Photo, and was quite pleased. Once I get this big move behind me.. I plan to develop my own, how cool will that be? I love learning new skills, and that is right up my alley.
Part of why I love shooting on the Holga is the unpredictability. You never know what you'll get back, where the imperfections will lie, and what dreamy qualities will lend itself to the film. There are so few genuine surprises in life - I needed the treat of having the prints come back to me. The shot I sent for Susan's diptych is below.
"Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence."
Henry David Thoreau
Dreamy isn't it? You can see more of my first Holga shots here if you'd like. I also have some Holga textures for you to download & use as well.
What does the new prompt Meander mean to you? Susan & I invite each of you to participate in the project and show us your unique vision, your voice, your echo.

I can't tell you how happy I am to have finally moved the blog over here. Granted, there's still alot of work to do.. but I think it's a huge improvement, don't you? I hope you'll let me know what you think in the comments. Puh-lease update your links and point them this way.
Warmly, Chrysti
