I know! The moment was oozing such sweetness that it could have made a 20 year old bag of sour patch kids sweeter than sugar.

However, for me, it is a bittersweet shot.

Lil' Ben, the kitten I rescued in January... had a tragic, unexpected ending to his short but joyous life in June. Renal Failure. It devastated me .. and is a loss I am still struggling with... and circumstances beyond my control forced me to make an extremely tough decision - to give my sweet, sweet golden Morgan to my ex-husband. I miss her tremendously. Despite the heavy moments of sadness, the memories they gave me fill me with joy... and I truly wouldn't change it for anything.

Life is rarely simple. It is brimming with moments that make us smile and cry all at once. It is filled with changes, losses and an often an abundance of overlooked blessings. You have to make a choice which moments to string together. Which moments to dwell in. Which moments to savor, which moments to learn from... which moments to hold close to your heart. It's the mix of the good, the bad and all that lies in between that comes together to create our stories.

I am reminded of a favorite quote:

“May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.”

It's the perfect blessing I think.

... and there's my other entry for this round of Echo.

“Please God, make my words today sweet and tender, for tomorrow I may have to eat them.” -unknown

Before you start drooling, be warned ... they looked FAR better than they actually tasted. They are from Harris Teeter - Dessert Sliders.

How does 'Sweet' translate in photos to you? Susan & I invite each of you to participate in the project and show us your unique vision, your voice, your echo. Get out your fancy cameras, your vintage ones, your mobile phone cams or use Photoshop to manipulate a digital montage. Whatever suits you best!

Always, Chrysti
